Dr. Christoph Weber delivering a speech on Green House Gas Emission reduction potential and the implementation of green jet fuel blending quota at the Annual Meeting of Indonesia’s National Air Carriers Association (INACA) in Bandung on 11 June 2010
INACA represents its 27 airline members interests that are of importance to the Indonesian aviation industry. From the perspective of sustainable economic development, Indonesia’s national aviation industry is giving serious attention to the concept of green aviation. This year’s reunion which was presided by the Minister of Transportation, H. E. Vice Admiral Freddy Numberi, took place under the motto “Go Green Indonesia, A New Approach towards Green Aviation”. In close coordination with the Government, the Ministry of Transportation, national regulators and JATRO, INACA is considering to implement concrete steps on how to face the challenges of climate change and significantly reduce the Indonesian airline sector’s carbon footprint by switching towards sustainable second generation biofuels.
JATRO will be submitting detailed proposals to INACA and the Ministry of Transportation that are equally respecting the aviation sector’s commercial interests, Indonesia’s unique biodiversity and eco-balance as well as the country’s large potential for sustainable jatropha biofuel plantations.
